Birthday in Review

What would you say for a nineteenth birthday, "naughty nineteen"? You know, like "sweet sixteen"? Meh, whatever.

So I came home from school on Friday and Saturday was my nineteenth birthday. You would think that since my birthday was on a Saturday that I would be able to start it off right by sleeping in, right? Haha, nope. Had a doctor's appointment at 10 AM. I'm trying to get back on my AD/HD medication (since I still can't pay attention worth shit), so I had to spend two hours taking these stupid tests so I could get re-diagnosed. One of them was to see if I had depression. Like, I know I'm a naturally depressing person and all, but I know I'm not seriously depressed.

So the rest of the day progressed with my grandmother and me going to visit a family friend, picking up a summer job application, cleaning up for dinner (Catholicism wasn't preventing me from eating meat on my birthday since it was a Saturday this year), and witnessing Squirt eating a 16oz steak by herself.

After dinner came the opening of the loot. Since I'm going to NYC the weekend after Easter, I just asked for spending money. My grandmother got me a big-ass box of Cheez-Its, and my mother got me some Tagalongs (aka the greatest Girl Scout cookies ever created), a new phone case, a new iPod case, and Argo, Wreck-It Ralph and Dirty Dancing on Blu-Ray.

The award for best card went to Squirt, who not only gave me a card of Darth Vader telling me to "use the Fork" because he "found my lack of cake disturbing", but she took the liberty to write this on the envelope:

Around 7:30ish, my friends started to make their way over. J. Lynch, Brandon and J all showed up at the same time, followed by Stephan and Nikki soon after. Nikki saved my life and brought Apples to Apples since I left mine at school, along with Fact or Crap. So the rest of the night was spent by just chatting and playing games.

Remember when I said that Riko wouldn't wish me a happy birthday? Remember how I'm wrong 99.9% of the time? He texted me at about quarter to midnight, and I literally stopped the game to tell my friends gathered around the table that my ex actually remembered my birthday. Stephan's theory was that it was his phone calendar that reminded him, but it didn't matter. He wished me a happy birthday while he didn't have to.

That diminishing light at the end of the peace tunnel got a smidge bit brighter that night.

As for the loot, Nikki had my present ready since January (a pillow she made me from a pattern I gave her for Christmas and a super cute photo clip), and J proved to me that she knows me way to well by giving me this:

Yes, J. I did need this by now.

J slept over Saturday night and accompanied me to my dad's on Sunday for cake and pizza. Her mom picked her up around 4, and the rest of the afternoon was spent trying to get my Disney videos off my piece o'shit SD card. It got to the point that we could get the actual video back, but there were still problems with repairing the audio. At this point, I now know that the videos are recoverable, but should probably leave the rest for a professional.

Overall, I would call this year's birthday a success. I didn't get very many birthday wishes on Facebook (not surprising, to be perfectly honest), but it's not really important. I was able to come home from school and celebrate my birthday with my family and some great friends, and that's all that matters.

Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday, and keep sacrificing those chickens in hope that the Disney videos will soon be fully repaired.
